MESSAGE FROM STEW DUNCAN – MMSL PRESIDENT
The Manitoba Senior Men’s and Masters Provincial Championships concluded this week-end with the Final games being held at the Winnipeg Soccer Complex on Saturday, August 23rd.
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the MMSL, I would like to take this opportunity to offer my Congratulations to all the MMSL participants in this year’s Senior Men’s and Masters Provincial Championships … you represented our League with class and distinction and each team should be proud of their achievements !
Special Congratulations to the Hellas Soccer Club for winning the Senior Men’s Provincial Championship and to the AC Italia Soccer Club for winning the Masters Provincial Championship !
Hellas will represent Manitoba at the Canadian Senior Men’s Club Championships in St. John’s, Newfoundland. The last time this event was held in Newfoundland (2002), our own Sons of Italy Soccer Club brought home the gold medals and the Challenge Cup, emblematic of the Senior Men’s Club Champion of Canada. Our best wishes to the Hellas Soccer Club to achieve the same results this year !
AC Italia Soccer Club will represent Manitoba at the Western Canadian Masters Club Championships in Victoria, B.C. Our best wishes to the AC Italia Soccer Club to bring home the gold medals this year (after coming so close in 2007) !
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all the volunteers from the MMSL who assisted with staging and organizing this year’s Provincial Championships at the Winnipeg Soccer Complex. Your contributions are very much appreciated !
Finally, I would like to offer special thanks and recognition to Brent Boulter for arranging this year’s “MSA Cup” qualifying matches and for ensuring that the Soccer Complex was in great condition for the Provincial Championships event !
The Black Watch - 4th Division
On Friday August 14th, 2008 The Black Watch Soccer Club defaulted their second straight and third overall game of the year. This results in their immediate withdrawal from the league as per by-law 22.06. For more information click here.
